Believe in Jesus
Everyone in the world is born in the same spiritual condition. We are all born separated from God.
This is not God’s desire for us. But He doesn’t make us choose Him. The choice is ours to make.
The question is, “How do I get to know God?”
And the answer is, “By Believing in and Receiving Jesus into my life.”
Why?
Because Jesus is the only way to remove the separation between us and God.
Jesus, God’s Son, didn’t just look down on us from Heaven and pity us, He came down and lived among us.
He did something that removed the separation between us and God.
There is nothing we can humanly do to bridge the separation between God’s perfection, and our imperfection.
Nothing we do is ever going to be enough.
- Religion(s) can’t do it. Religion is man trying to get to God.
- Church rituals won’t do it. They can’t in any way make us good enough.
- Doing ‘good’ things in the hope that they outweigh the ‘bad’ is futile.
- Money can’t buy a way to God either.
So, we’re stuck here separated from God!
What is it that separates us from God?
Romans chapter 3 and verse 23 (in the Bible) tells us we have all sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
Simply put – we can’t measure up to God’s perfect standard. Sin separates us from God.
About Sin?
Sin is disobedience to God.
And we are all born into a world of sin, and born in a state of sinfulness.
It’s the thing that motivates all the wrong things that we do as human beings – from the smallest things to the most hateful and awful things.
And we are each responsible for our own sins. We can’t blame anyone else for the wrong things we do. And we can’t explain them away.
What is the outcome of sin in our lives? Death and eternal separation from God for eternity.
We all die. Romans 6:23 , “The wages of sin is death.”
When we die we don’t all go to heaven and be with God. Because right up until we die, we are still separated from God by sin.
Believe and receive Jesus
Here’s the Good News. In John 14:6. Jesus tells us how to get to heaven – how to know God. Jesus said, “I am the way”.
When Jesus died on the cross, He died without sin. So He didn’t deserve to die.
But by dying on a cross when He didn’t deserve to, He took our sin upon Himself and took the punishment – the ‘wage’ – of sin on our behalf.
Jesus paid the price to bridge the separation gap of sin between us and God. Romans 5:8 says that while we were still sinners Jesus died for us.
When we believe in Jesus and receive Him, we receive forgiveness for our sin based on the price Jesus already paid for us on the cross!
When someone is forgiven their debt – the debt is no longer owed.
Jesus has forgiven our sin debt. Now we can choose to turn from our sin by believing in Him and receiving Him.

What do I do now?
If you just prayed that prayer then your life has changed for eternity.
Now you are friends with God.
Your sin is forgiven.
You have a life to look forward to for eternity – and it starts right now!
